Cameroon Commemorates World Environment Day with Calls for Sustainable Environmental Management in the Face of Urban Pollution

In Yaoundé, Cameroon, the celebration of World Environment Day on the 5th of June 2024 was  filled with a myriad of activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of sustainable environmental management. From impactful sensitization campaigns to engaging workshops, seminars, and sports walks, the event served as a platform to educate the public on the pressing need to protect and preserve their environment

Despite the commemorative activities, the cityscape of major Cameroonian cities remains marred by litter and debris, tarnishing the urban environment and contributing to pollution. The prevalence of littered streets underscores the pressing need for concerted efforts to promote environmental consciousness and responsibility among citizens.

To address this challenge, measures focusing on waste management programs, recycling initiatives, and community clean-up drives are crucial in fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
